Thanksgiving

A group of Europeans decided to explore and find land that they would be able to practice their religion freely on. They made it to Massachusetts Bay on the Mayflower, there they began to build their village a month later. That spring they met an Abenaki Indian and a Indian man named Squanto. Squanto taught the pilgrims how to cultivate corn,get sap from trees, how to catch fish in rivers, and even how to figure out which plants are poisonous. The settlers then made an alliance with a local tribe, their relationship for those 50 years was not good at all. November 1621 as when the first thanksgiving was held, it was in honor of the first successful corn harvest of the pilgrims.
